For the uninitiated I would like to introduce this astonishing series of Salvias that can bring months of colour to your display. Below are some of the reasons I think they are worthy of a place in all our gardens:-
- Beautiful two-tone flowers, half white and half coloured.
- The flowers are colour changing, depending on the weather. In hotter summers there is more white in the flowers. In cooler summers they will be more coloured.
- Forms a neat bush of around 100cm (40in) in height and spread. Therefore suitable for containers and borders. They are sun lovers so remember that when placing them.
- Provide up to five months of blooms from summer through to the first frosts, and the flowers are abundant.
- Being from the sage family, these wonderful plants have lightly scented foliage to add to their appeal.
- In many areas of the country, these plants are winter hardy, although those further north in the U.K may need to afford them some protection.
- Easy plants to care for, even for the beginner.
- Perennial, so will provide colour year after year.
The ‘Lips’ series currently includes:-
Salvia ‘Hot Lips’ – Amazing two-tone half red and half white summer long blooms.
Salvia ‘Amethyst Lips’ – Gorgeous purple and white flowers throughout the summer.
Salvia ‘cherry Lips’ – Fragrant foliage with beautiful pink and white two-tone blooms.
