It’s never too early to be planning your garden displays for next spring. Although Tulips should not be planted until the soil is cold in the autumn, some of the bulbs will be delivered in August, and you need to get your orders in before the cream of the crop has all gone.  This is why I have been choosing some of my favourites from the new varieties to recommend to you.  And during my trip to Holland’s Keukenhof Gardens last spring I certainly found some beauties!

Tulip Cabana Parrot

This exquisite, brand new tulip was bred by one of the best Dutch breeders out there. Cabanna Parrot has very large, elegant creamy white blooms with ruffled edges that are outlined in pink and soft green. The pink develops further as the flower matures. When in full bloom the tulip opens fully, revealing its full palette of brilliant colours. Very rare – so be sure to pre-order as availability is extremely limited.

Tulip Brown Sugar

Beautiful and hardy, Tulip ‘Brown Sugar’ is an all-round winner. Gorgeous copper-coloured petals tinged with a soft red blush form these lovely blooms that sit atop the sturdy stems that Triumph tulips are known and celebrated for. These beauties are tougher than they look and can withstand even the most unpredictable Spring weather. Tulip Brown Sugar also has a delightfully sweet scent, making it an ideal variety for bouquets and floral arrangements. We recommend planting Tulip Brown Sugar alongside purple or plum hued varieties for a striking Springtime display.

Tulip Verona Sunrise

Tulip Verona Sunrise is an early-flowering peony-like tulip in a beautiful and subtle colour scheme of pink, peach and champagne. Each flower has individual markings in this unusual colour palette, making Tulip Verona Sunrise a particularly striking sight when planted in large numbers.  Showy and fragrant, Tulip Verona Sunrise makes an excellent cut flower and brings a touch of romantic glamour to a bouquet or floral arrangement.

Tulip Paul McCartney®

With the red and white colours a reference to his hometown of Liverpool, Tulip Paul McCartney® is a fitting tribute to the legendary musician Sir Paul McCartney. This beautiful Triumph tulip is mid-season flowering bloom with all the qualities you have come to expect from this excellent variety. Tulip Paul McCartney® also makes an excellent cut flower.

Tulip Salmon Parrot

As with most Parrot Tulips, Tulip Salmon Parrot blooms slightly later in the season, ensuring that Spring goes out with a bang. This gorgeous tulip is a tall, very showy variety with petals in glorious shades of apricot, tangerine and salmon pink highlighted with golden accents, and slightly crinkled edges.  Tulip Salmon Parrot looks spectacular in any landscape or garden setting but this multiple award-winner is especially striking in bouquets and floral arrangements.
